Josh Kennedy has been a DVC member since 2017 and calls SSR his home resort. We discuss points, resorts, upgrades, and the magic of membership in this DVC member interview. One of the things that make everybody jealous is Josh's streak of getting room upgrades at DVC.

Josh Kennedy has been a DVC member since 2017. His home resort is Saratoga Springs Resort. He first purchased 200 points resale then purchased 50 direct points for the blue card membership. Jodi Gross from DVC Resale Market helped him navigate buying resale and direct back to back and helped Josh avoid potential pitfalls such as different use years. He chose Saratoga Springs Resort because the annual dues were cheaper, and the price per point was reasonable. The 11th-month mark does not matter to him because he does not mind where he stays, and he enjoys the financial savings from owning DVC. Now Josh wants to add on points and has been waiting for the right contract to add on.
Josh’s first taste of DVC was renting at the Treehouse Villas with many other families. But he got tired of caravanning and coordinating with other peoples’ schedules. Now owning DVC, going to the parks is not as big of a priority as it used to be, and his family enjoys more resort stays. Each of his family members will do their own thing for parts of the day, and then they will get back together for dinner, which works for them. Josh and his wife feel that their kids are safe riding the resort buses and charging on their MagicBands.
Last June, Josh stayed in a one-bedroom at Grand Californian Villas located next to the DVC observation deck with a view of the Goofy’s Sky School attraction at Disney California Adventure Park. He loved how he could walk downstairs and straight into a theme park. When his kids were napping, Josh and his wife were able to get inside the park within 15 minutes, ride several attractions, pick up beignets, and come back to the room within a few hours. Josh wants to try Aulani and hopes to do it as his next significant stay.
Josh stayed at Walt Disney World right before it shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was there when it reopened.
