Scott and Karen Daves have about an hour commute to Disney from their home near Tampa. If you've ever wondered about keeping DVC after moving to Florida, the Daves' provides excellent insight as to being DVC members and living within a commutable distance.

Scott and Karen Daves have lived in Florida for nearly their whole lives but first bought DVC in 2018. The Daves visited a DVC kiosk during the Food and Wine Festival on a whim, then researched and went for it. Add-on-itis hit immediately, and they bought five contracts within two years! The dues price was a significant factor when the Daves bought DVC.
They book a couple of 3-4 night trips at the 11-month window, such as their anniversary, but mostly book spontaneous one-night trips roughly once every six weeks. Sometimes they have only a day trip planned but end up calling member services while in the parks to book a room for the night! After these last-minute trips, they now pack an overnight bag. They have now stayed at every resort at WDW except the Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge. Their favorite DVC resort is Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Village for the covered parking and to eat at Sanaa.
They now find they go more times because it is easier to budget and plan with their DVC points. Since they drive, the Daves bring snacks and drinks on their DVC stays. They like to use the Deluxe Dining Plan for longer trips, so they try restaurants they wouldn’t otherwise.
The Daves off-the-beaten-path spots are Center Street off Main Street with tables and chairs to relax and hear the parade or cavalcade and sitting on the wall where Adventureland ends. Frontierland begins where you can listen to Splash Mountain and Big Thunder and catch the fireworks.
The Daves just started the Mickeyphile Podcast at mickeyphile.com and have associated Facebook and Twitter accounts where you can find them.
