134 Why We Love Club Level & The Grand Floridian
/

The Schapmann family fell in love with the Grand Floridian on one of their trips when the Grand Flo just happened to be the actively marketed property. Sam explains that they set their “point calibration” on a 2-bedroom villa over at Bay Lake Tower; however, on their first stay, they booked a 2-Bedroom Lake view at the Grand Floridian, and that changed everything. Sam explains DVC leads the family from Disney vacations every 4-5 years to taking an extended vacation for the entire family every year plus a few bonus trips for whoever can make the trip.

Sam purchased DVC in 2015 as an original Grand Floridian owner.  Their first DVC trip was a great experience with a lake view in a two-bedroom.  They have not been back for a stay yet due to the high point charts at Grand Floridian but want to soon.  They also own contracts at Animal Kingdom Lodge but have multiple contracts at both resorts.  Sam first purchased direct points but, in retrospect, felt he missed out on the resale market.  He added on points with DVC Resale Market and was ROFRed once, but the second offer went through, and he found it very easy.

Sam has a large family of seven.  He also loves Star Wars and likes to travel to Walt Disney World for Star Wars film openings with friends.  Further, his family enjoys club level and two-bedroom villas, so they are all in the same room.  The add-on contracts were to accommodate these types of trips.  For fall trips, not all of his kids come, and they will stay in a one-bedroom.  After staying in one and two bedrooms, Sam cannot go back to studio rooms due to the extra space and seating and washer and dryer, which they use heavily for clothing management, especially in the summer.

Sam usually takes Magical Express into Walt Disney World but now has rented a car and enjoyed it.  They like that they save on parking.  Sam hopes to stay at the Bay Lake Tower Grand Villa room.  He mentions that two two-bedroom rooms are sometimes less expensive than a grand villa room.

Sam’s family includes a special needs child and loves the care and disability access service that Disney provides, and it has kept them coming back even more.  Sam believes the value in DVC contracts is the locations.  People love Disney and the locations, and Sam feels this secures the value in DVC contracts.

The most memorable time was when Sam took his daughters to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.  He recommends getting the whole package, and Disney PhotoPass photographers are there to take pictures of the “big reveal” reaction.  It is so magical when the girls feel like a princess for a day.
