Are you considering buying a DVC contract at the upcoming Disneyland Hotel Tower? Join the conversation with four Disney podcasters as we discuss VGC vs what we know about the new Disneyland Tower Hotel.
The reason you buy DVC in Disneyland is to stay there. Grand Californian is the smallest DVC resort and has the highest demand. It's really difficult to get any type of room there if you do not own Grand Californian points. Although Disneyland Tower is going to be about 350 rooms, we anticipate demand for members will be really high. So you're still going to want to own there even after the tower opens up.
Comparing Disney World to Disneyland. Everything boils down to the travel time. It takes longer to get from the airports to Disneyland; however, you can walk from end to end at Disneyland within 15 minutes. Disney World is a quick 30 minute trip from MCO; however, you will spend hours each day just getting around the massive 47,000 acres of Walt Disney World Resort.
Right now the room inventory for VGC is that studios sleep four, one-bedrooms have an extra Murphy bed and two-bedrooms accommodate up to 9. We don't believe studios or one-bedroom villas sleep a 5th person at DLT. DLT also has some new rooms called “pods” which are designed to two people.
Here's what we don't know about the new Disneyland Tower Hotel: the cost to stay there in terms of DVC Points per night and the cost to purchase points. That could sway some people; however, some of us are buying in no matter what.
VGC has closer proximity to the parks. VGC is the ONLY domestic resort that has their own private entrance into a Disney Park. Even the walk to Disneyland is shorter from VGC than it is Disneyland Hotel or Paradise Pier. We ranked VGC as first and third in the shortest walk. Second place belongs to the walk from Beach Club Villas to EPCOT.
