Overview of The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridan Resort & Spa

After the sophisticated, Palm Beach golden era, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort is Disney's “flagship” resort and serves as one of the main hotels on property. The main hotel opened in June of 1988 and is one of the three resorts along the Resort Monorail Line. In October of 2013, the resort expanded and opened the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, apart of Disney Vacation Club. The resort's DVC-side offers a wide range of options for Members to choose from Deluxe Studios, 1 & 2-Bedroom Villas, and 3-Bedroom Grand Villas – each offering something for every travel size.

Top 10 Reasons to Stay at Disney's Grand Floridian

#10 – Great pools! Pool with grotto waterfall, pool bar, sandy beach, and MK view is very nice, zero entry, long water slide, kids splash pad area, and pool bar & grill (lobster sliders a bonus)! The courtyard pool is considered a quiet pool, but it’s really another main pool (just no slide)

#9 – Standard View Rooms Awesome.  You can get a nice MK fireworks view, possible water view, and monorail view (all at once)! Also view of Electrical Water Pageant, without having to book a preferred view.

#8 – Smallest DVC Resort in WDW – easy to navigate, and everything is right there in that one building (quick service and pool are short walks, as is the spa, parking lot for a rental car).

#7 – Its Signature Dining galore—some of the best restaurants in ALL DVC resorts in one location. And multiple options – can eat there all week, which saves travel time. Most give TIW discount: Gasparilla Island Grill open 24-hours (quick service/refill mugs), Grand Floridian Café, Narcoossee's, 1900 Park Fair, Citrico’s, Victoria & Alberts, Enchanted Rose Lounge, Tea room (perfectly princess tea party).

#6 –  Location, Location, Location & proximity to the MK park (walk, 1-stop monorail, or direct boat to MK) 3 different modes of transportation.

#5 – Bathrooms: Televisions, Tubs & Showers 2 bathrooms in a Studio, and the TV in the bathroom mirror is awesome. #2 Some Disney’s Best Holiday Decorations Christmas decorations & Easter decorations (gingerbread house, giant tree, giant hand-painted Easter eggs with classic Disney images).

#1 – Grand Flo is the “Flagship Resort”: Victorian upscale elegance (main lobby is a 5-story atrium birdcage elevator, chandeliers, white classic looks of the building, beautiful resort grounds with lake view, upscale experience, the 2nd-floor orchestra plays jazz music). The DVC site describes it as “Victorian elegance meets modern sophistication at this lavish Disney Resort hotel.”

Top 4 Reasons to Not to Book The Villas at the Grand Floridian:

#4- Elegance is not everyone’s cup of tea. People often say it feels too “stuffy” or formal like a “grandma resort” like they won’t fit in because they aren’t fancy enough/”I don’t dress up on vacation.”

#3 – Often Shares Buses with Polynesian – should have it’s own resort busses

#2 – Point Charts are high – When you hear us talk about stretch and splurge. Grand Floridian is 1000% splurge.

#1 – Availability is difficult, even for owners. It’s essential to own here during Fall and Christmastime.
