Meet Jennifer and Randal Ferguson, Disney Vacation Club (DVC) owners and YouTube stars on their Disney and DVC-inspired channel, The Magic in the Music. Jennifer and Randall share their Disney backstory and what inspired them to create their YouTube channel. They’ve been to Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, and Shanghai Disneyland Park.
Randal was surprised by Jennifer’s passion for Disney early in their marriage and learned to love Disney as Jennifer’s interest made itself known. The couple was gifted a one-day trip to Disneyland Paris for their honeymoon, and that helped ignite joy for both of them. Jennifer grew up going to Disneyworld every year as she stayed with her dad on Florida’s gulf coast. She took a hiatus from Disney as she completed college, but caught the bug again after she and Randal got married. Randal loves the magic, and also as a professional industrial engineer, he loves trying to discover how the park works while enjoying the atmosphere. He loves to nerd out on the rides and the technology behind how Disney pulls it all off.
Jennifer teaches music education, specifically middle school band. As an educator, she inspires learning and cultural connection through music. Disney helps her to connect her mission as an educator to her passion for creating their YouTube channel. Using her platform, she can engage both the Disney fan within and the music learner alike. The Magic and the Music seeks to help viewers find value and a more positive experience with Disney and DVC.
They transitioned from regular Disney goers to Disney Vacation Club owners after walking by the DVC booths at the parks year after year. They had stayed mostly in moderate resorts over time while watching the price tag for these rooms climb over time. One summer, Jennifer and Randal started digging into the DVC research, and after contemplating the cost and value over time, they bought their first DVC contract at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. They used their points to stay first at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge on the DVC Kidani Village side and realized that it was also a place they wanted to own, so they picked up a DVC resale contract. Add-on-itis quickly set in and they bought a small DVC Riviera Resort contract as well.
Over the years, Jennifer and Randall have stayed at all of the Walt Disney World Disney Vacation Club resorts except for Old Key West and Boulder Ridge Villas. They also still need to make it to the DVC beach resorts like Hilton Head, Aulani, and Vero Beach. On their Disney Vacation Club bucket list, they want to head to Aulani when their kids get a little bit older. They hope to stay at every DVC location in the future!
To maximize their DVC points, they choose to take longer trips. Their family will book studios to squeeze more days out of their points rather than taking frequent, short Disney trips. This helps them minimize the airfare and travel time costs. Usually 2 to 3 times a year, Jennifer and Randal will take their family to Walt Disney World, but every so often, they will make their way to Disneyland since they live on the west coast. Jennifer and Randal are DVC split stay fans.
They recommend a Disney date night without their kids when they’re on Disney property. They use Disney’s recommended babysitting services and usually make their way to Trader Sam’s at DVC’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. They love how Disney integrates the drink and the show together. They have been taking advantage of the Disney Vacation Club resorts more now that they own DVC. Their vacations have become more relaxed and they have moved from the Disney scarcity mentality to the DVC abundance mentality, meaning DVC owners no longer feel the pressure to do everything on every Disney trip because we know we’re coming back. The DVC abundance mentality has allowed Jennifer and Randal to stop doing the things in Disney they may have skipped before, like watching the parades and the shows.
