Episode 235 is dedicated to sharing Mary's DVC journey from a 15-year-old new member to renting points for her independent vacations with dreams of getting her finances in order so that one day she too can become a member and create memories with her own family.
Mary grew up coming to Disney when her father would get a trip to Disney with his part-time color guard coaching. Mary's mom had a job change that yielded more income. She didn't know it at the time; however, her parents had already been investigating DVC. Between having done their homework and having close family friends as DVC mentors, her parents felt comfortable enough to buy 100 points at the Polynesian on that vacation. The family has added on two 100-point contracts at Riviera since then so that each of their daughters will have a direct contract.
Mary set a life goal to purchase a DVC contract of her own. However, she's very wise in prioritizing other life goals involving debt elimination and advanced educational degrees first. (Chad gave her bonus points for dating a young man who was open to buying into DVC.)
While Mary is technically not a deeded DVC member, we love having her as part of the My DVC Points member community and look forward to having her join us on more shows as time goes on to update us on her progress of becoming a blue card member.
