Have you been shamed by others who don't understand your love of Disney and frequent visits? Chad chats with Annelie Heinen and Angie Robinson, who share some strategies for dealing with Disney shaming tactics and the benefits of DVC with regard to mental health. Episode 172
Angie (a business and life coach) and Annelie (a former marriage and family therapist and current travel agent) share how they have experienced Disney shaming and how they have handled the criticism. Angie suggests starting with how you are thinking about the comments you're getting in regard to frequent Disney trips and how you make meaning around those comments.
Annelie and Angie both share how their trips have enriched their family's lives and how that helps to tamp down on any criticism that comes their way. Chad shares that he tends to punch back but also uses it as a chance to educate people on why DVC makes a lot of sense for his family.
The conversation continues with some facts on how Disney can actually affect the brain, with happy chemicals such as dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins providing pleasant brain feelings that enhance the Disney experience and create lasting bonds among friends and family who experience it together.
This episode provides some strategies for how to address the Disney Shaming that many members feel from non-DVC family and friends.
