Join the conversation as Alyse shares her DVC journey and provides some insight as a moderator at the DVC Free Cycle Facebook group. The freecycle group was founded to help reduce waste and allow members to give things away to other members. As you end your vacation, you may have food or items that another family starting their DVC vacation could use.

Free Cycle alert! This episode is for you if you’ve ever had leftover groceries or other items in good condition that you find yourself discarding at the end of your Disney Vacation Club stay. This episode is for you if you are always looking to save a few dollars on your Disney vacation. Welcome back, Alyse Consiglio, moderator at the DVC Free Cycle group on Facebook. Learn how this fantastic group can help you pay it forward or save a few bucks by freecycling your leftover items and pixie dusting them to other DVC members.

Alyse and her husband are a Disney household. Her husband grew up going to the parks with his family, and Alyse went three times before meeting her husband. Once they found each other, they started going to Disney together, and they took one “last” trip to visit the Disney parks before starting their family. Now with an 11 and 13-year-old in tow, they have visited about 15 times in their kids’ lifetimes. While they love going as a family, Alyse also looks forward to making a couples-only trip again soon.

Disney Vacation Club has been an excellent investment for Alyse’s family given how often they like to spend time at Walt Disney World. Although they like staying in studios, now and again, they will stay in a one-bedroom too. Wherever they stay in the DVC network, Alyse’s family prefers to stay at DVC resorts with great Disney transportation options. Alyse’s home Disney Vacation Club resort is Disney Vacation Club’s Old Key West Resort, but they haven’t yet stayed there because they were toting strollers and lots of stuff with them in their early DVC years. Now that Alyse’s kids are older, they look forward to staying at DVC OKW soon.

Disney’s Boardwalk Villas has Alyse’s heart. Her family has also stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas at Kidani Village, the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. She plans to stay at Disneys’ Riviera Resort for the first time this spring.

Alyse helps to moderate the online community, DVC Free Cycle. This is an excellent place for DVC members to help each other out by leaving leftover groceries and other items behind for the next family to take advantage of when a vacation ends. Whether it be extra bottled water, packaged snacks, a barely-used stroller, or even a lightly used coffee maker, this community is a fantastic place for DVC members to help out other DVC members. It feels great to help someone else save money on their trip. Many people will coordinate their free cycle exchanges by leaving something at a DVC laundry room or even dropping items with bell services. The main rule in DVC Free Cycle is to use common sense. It’s not a place to ask for your shopping list, but it’s excellent to browse to reduce waste and get some of what you need for your DVC trip.
