Meet long-time contributor, a friend of the MyDVCPoints community, and environmental educator Amy Meeker Taylor. She fell in love with Disney as a high school student and started bringing her own family to Disney World in 2012. After discovering Run Disney and frequenting Disney World more and more, she went all-in on Disney Vacation Club (DVC) in 2018. Amy’s original Disney Vacation Club home resort is the Polynesian Villas with additional DVC home resorts at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Saratoga Springs Resort, and Riviera Resort. Addonitis was real!

Amy bought her first Disney Vacation Club contract at Polynesian Villas because it was the active resort being sold by DVC at the time. She likes to use her Polynesian DVC points for weekend trips with friends and Run Disney events. Amy purchased her Disney Vacation Club points at Animal Kingdom Lodge to gain the 11-month DVC home advantage in both the value studios and the club-level rooms. The Disney Vacation Club Saratoga Springs Resort came about because it was the most affordable at the time, and the DVC contract at Riviera Resort after Amy’s husband fell in love with the property on a Disney Vacation Club tour.

Disney Vacation Club has allowed Amy to go to Disney more often. While her family has found that they take a more relaxed approach to the Disney World parks, Amy has not slowed down at all. Disney Vacation Club has opened up opportunities for her to bring different combinations of friends and family over the years. Having stayed at 12 of the 16 DVC resorts, Amy is a Disney Vacation Club expert! Just missing the Villas at the Grand Floridian, the Villas at Grand Californian, Aulani, and Vero Beach DVC stays. Amy can speak to the pros and cons of just about every DVC property. For example, Amy recommends that if you’re going to visit the DVC Hilton Head location, make sure you drive because otherwise, it’s really hard to access.

Amy’s favorite Disney Vacation Club resorts are Animal Kingdom Lodge on the club level, Boulder Ridge Villas for the outdoorsy vibe, and Hilton Head for relaxation in nature with Disney service. Hilton Head’s DVC location employs their own naturalist, shout out to Cassie. It’s clear that Amy loves DVC locations that celebrate the outdoors, and it helps that she holds two degrees in zoology. Amy has been able to connect her passion for animals to Disney World through Animal Kingdom school education programs. Disney World and Disney Vacation Club can bring so much more to our lives than just a place to play!

As an experienced Disney Vacation Club Member, Amy has dream stays in mind that hasn’t come to life. Her husband really wants to stay in a DVC grand villa one day, hopefully at one of the DVC Polynesian Bungalows or the Animal Kingdom Jambo House grand villas with the pool table. She’s hoping to get out to Aulani soon too, where the DVC grand villas are simply a game-changer.

To end our episode, Amy answers Chad’s famous rapid-fire questions about Disney Vacation Club and what she prefers at Disney World for her vacations. Learn about what Amy considers to be DVC hidden gems, where she stretches her points, and how she uses her points to fuel her passion for Run Disney. If you’ve never done a Run Disney event and you love running, you can not only run a race, but you can also volunteer for Run Disney as an ambassador. Amy has handed out medals at the finish line and helped direct runners on the course. Getting a spot as a Run Disney volunteer ambassador can be just as hard as getting a spot in the race!
