When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Deliveries as Magical Vacation Grocers

Fellow DVC Member Scott Conners shares his story of becoming a cast member, a DVC member, a former cast member due to the pandemic, and emerging as a successful entrepreneur. We gain some insights into how Scott's family uses their membership, insider tips on working with Mousekeeping, and the back story of Magical Vacation Grocers.

Scott shares his Disney journey which started off with family vacations. Scott entered the college program and never really left Orlando. He's been working as a cast member for over 20 years before the pandemic hit. He's worked briefly at Space Mountain; however, has spent the vast majority of his career serving resort guests. His final position was in Mousekeeping leadership at our beloved BoardWalk.

We cover tipping of Mousekeeping and cast members. Mousekeeping earns a full wage. Tipping is not expected at Disney; however, in some areas, it's customary to leave a tip and if you want to do so, you certainly can. The cast members appreciate it. If you're going to leave items in the room for Mousekeeping, please write a note saying that it was intentional. Otherwise, those items go to lost and found.

When the pandemic hit, Scott was one of the tens of thousands of cast members who were laid off. To provide for his family, Scott started Magical Vacation Grocers. We discuss the care and attention to detail he puts in every single item. Custom orders aren't a problem.

Please note – this episode was sponsored by World of DVC and their associated brands. I'm creating this content because I got to know Scott, really fell in love with his story and his services. Given the opportunity to help DVC members get better grocery service and help a former cast member live out their entrepreneurial dream, I created this episode as a gift to the community and a personal gift to Scott. I pay full price for his services. Scott offered discounts and I asked that he create some really cool giveaways for the community. Scott wanted to do more, and I asked him to redirect that sentiment and do a little bit extra for the My DVC Points team members.
